http://www.advfilms.com/sales.asp

Get up to 75% off on selected anime from ADV.

Shipping and lack of customer service kills the deal, IMHO.

True, if you do order from them expect to be charged right away and your order shipped no sooner than a month later.

Basically expect the opposite of what most reputable firms do when you buy from them. You should get your stuff but the whole experience leaves you feeling kinda icky. Shocked

Never did find out what happened to him. I think he transferred.

Mine weren't notched but if you read the fine print the page tells you they might be notched. I know I've seen CDs in the past done that way a lot, apparently it's a form of hard identifying things as clearance/sale goods. Not sure why someone only doing business online would need to do that though.

LOLOL I wonder who decided that that would be a good way to ID the clearance items. At least use a red sticker that is impossible to remove and splits into a million torn pieces when you try to peel it off!

Well speaking from some experience (I ended up working service desk at a couple of different stores over the years before I got my degree) the stickers aren't useful for that, only for keeping people from removing them and sticking them on another product. (Which is a moot point nowadays with nearly all stores using UPCs to ring stuff up with.)

The problems with clearance merchandise like CDs is not only returns at the same store but other stores (it might not be clearance there and if they allow returns of upopened CDs without a receipt you could make money that way, not legally of course but people do that and worse all the time). I figure the notching came about as a way to permanently mark an item as clearance or a giveaway (I've gotten a few freebies that came the same way) to prevent those types of returns. That's just a guess though.

Still doesn't explain why ADV would need to notch stuff they sold online really, especially since most of it is excess stock of discontinued things (like the individual DVDs where they've released a thinkpack DVD set since.)

I had always assumed it was to keep people from buying things in bulk and reselling them on eBay.

PS: Might want to bump the CPM sale... I would feel stupid for a double post.

Doubt it'd stop most people, they could just note they were new buy notched and sell them for a small markup and still make money.
