The last time I saw that happen was several years ago and they kept playing with it through the entire run of previews & commercials. Finally when the movie was about to start some VERY big guy stands up and yells out "if whoever's using that fucking pointer doesn't stop it right now I'm going to find you and shove it up your ass!" The pointer went out immediately, the audience cheered and no one misbehaved at all the rest of the time. Very Happy

Seriously, this is awesome Smile

Don't forget jerks with laser pointers in theaters, they're as bad, or worse! Shocked

Remind me of that time at the Star Wars re-release showing and those lightsabers waving idiots in the front rows.

I recall seeing Star Wars (all six) in the theater and it was dead there.

EMPTY.

I was sad.

It's Star Wars... Sad

No, what was sad was going to see Mononoke Hime in the theater and it was near empty. Sad

Well, that wasn't exactly a movie with broad appeal like Spirited Away...

And anime was kind of still "EVIL BASEMENT OTAKU" stuff in the media back then.

That would be another pet peeve of mine: Overly pretty/artsy anime.

OK, but Millennium Actress was good. Smile

Pet peeve:

-media-perpetuated stereotypes.

Asians are not smart! They're just as dumb as any other person! Razz

Well I know that's true now (after college and meeting many more), but most of the ones I encountered in high school were freaking brains, so I can see why the myth keeps going. Smile

Besides, that's not a bad stereotype, at least it's a positive one. Wink

-- When people say they'll exert/perform 110% (or anything higher than 100%) of their efforts.

I mean, it's an individual darnit. One person should be one hundred percent. I know this sounds dumb, but it really irks me when I hear this. Right now, I'm beginning to run out of breath just thinking of it. And yes, I am serious about this.

I would've loved to have witnessed that event. I wish I had the guts to do something like it.

Even in a group it's stupid, a group can't give more than 100% of it's potential, 100% is the full potential! Shocked

Yeah that one irks me too. >_<

Well this guy definitely could have backed up the threat, and it would have likely have been incredibly painful for the guy/gal with the laser pointer, so I'm not sure how much guts it took. It was very much appreciated in any case though. Very Happy

Well, a good number of Asians may be academically inclined, but that doesn't mean they know how to be socially functioning or being able to continue into the workworld.

Not to mention that most of us have a cultural superiority issue that we take too far.

"Chinese people were building giant sailing ships when Vikings lived in huts!"

:psyduck emoticon:

Psy-ai-yi... utter foolishness.

Good to know that I'm not alone in this. I tend to get blank stares when I explain this to people. They think I'm crazy.

Well you might be crazy (so am I!) but you're not the only one that that bothers. Smile
