I was just wanting to know how people get the images to use in their blogs. What's your favorite process of obtaining screenshots? And what's your favorite resources of obtaining other images such as images used for the banner, icons, etc on your blog?

I usually like to use obtain screenshots by using VideoLAN's VLC media player. And other images I get from other online sources.

I pretty much use BSplayer for all my screenshots and resize it with Xat. I'm not big on banners and icons. But if I ever need an image, I usually just look at manga archives or google images for ideas. It's very rare that I need though.

combination of my AMAZING mad cappin' skillz via Windows Media Player Classic, resizing & saving in Photoshop, and naming files via xnview.

For the other images I use, I have the vast Moy Cave Vault-slash-Library at my disposal. Years of "collecting" various anime related images finally pays off as I usually having something I can use for whatever I'm blogging.

I think VLC has a screen cap function somewhere (in the new version). They have an online manual, I think.

I get the screencaps the same way moyism gets them (except the "collection" part). Razz

As for placing them on the blog, I usually let either ImageShack or PhotoBucket host them. I store them on my HD first, before letting these two sites hosts them, then deleting my own HD copy.

Are there programs out there that let you re-size multiple images at once, rather than one by one?

Adobe Photoshop if you happen to have that. XnView and ACDSee will do it too.

I have Paint Shop Pro and The Gimp. If either of those programs can do it, I don't know how.

My guess is they should be able too but I wouldn't know how off-hand.

I highly suggest checking out XnView since it's free and is a great free image browser (better than ACDSee).

I use Faststone Image Viewer that allows you to resize and rename multiple images at once. The whole program is free as well.

Irfanview is another free program that's great for this, it allows batch processing for resizing and the interface is pretty intuitive even for computer neophytes.

As an example at one of our sites at work the person doing the web page for that site is mostly a computer neophyte. They got her Adobe GoLive! to do the site and it's fairly simple but it doesn't resize images (if it does I couldn't find out how.) I put Irfanview on her PC and showed her how to use it and she picked it up right away. It's really simple to use. Smile

Yeah, true, I love Irfanview to bits. Even if it doesn't have any advanced features, but it's small, easy to install, user-friendly and fast.

Basically, I take caps as I watch, filter afterwards, resize and rename with IView, upload to FTP and post them first. Then I only start to write. One advantage is, I refer to the pictures to know where I am, especially for confusing episodes.
