Where in the world can you dumpster dive and find working monitors? Most places around here do surplus sales and they're sold by lot. I'm not up to buying a pallet piled 4 feet high with monitors myself. |

The university likes to throw stuff away. If you have an inside source that tells you when and where, you can intercept stuff before the maintenance people get to it. _________________ Secretary of the Anime Club of Lehigh University (ACLU?)

You make dumpster-hunting sound like a military-grade operation.
And my cat. My old monitor. :<

Is it bad that the first thing I did upon seeing that picture was to look for a reflection in the cat's eye, ZS-style? _________________ Random Curiousity |

The University I went to (and later worked at for a while) has strict policies on that, if it has an item tag you can forget tossing it, it has to go to surplus and be sold off.
Granted we'd strip computers of all useable parts before sending them to surplus but we couldn't just toss even dead monitors. That was a real pain in the ass. |

It depends on the dumpster, the location and its contents.

Man, either that's a really small monitor or one big/fluffy cat! He certainly looked happy up there. |

Our university doesn't have a very efficient disposal policy. Let's just say we're being efficient and eliminating waste by finding a use for stuff that would be thrown away... They just toss stuff and it makes Token Asian sad...
Well, if I was a cat on a warm monitor, I'd be happy. _________________ Secretary of the Anime Club of Lehigh University (ACLU?)

He's fluffy and big. He’s Russian-half breed or something, not really sure since we picked him off the streets as a kitten. Now he's mighty 14 years old, which in human years makes him about 75. My own Neko Ojichan. |

A little late and I know it's hard to do, but the best thing you can do is try to stay calm and be yourself (albeit your most polite self. ) Hopefully you'll find something soon moy. |
