I think the answer is not in censorship, but making darn sure parents know what the hell they're doing.

Wow... tired. Head hurts. Advent Children... *faints*

Lol ya forgot about that show. I guess your right about animes based off of bishoujo games. It be nice to get Kanon or Air over here in the US or To Heart.

It's not looking good for Kanon or Air but To Heart has been licensed by Right Stuf. I can't find any info on their site about it or press releases but the licensing list at AnimeOnDVD.com lists it as licensed by them. I'll most likely be buying it, I do hope they're taking some time to clean up the video first so it'll look really sharp. Smile

Well that's not completely solvable because of all the different cultures and beliefs but there are quite a bit of basic things that we could do better.

Actually it's not as bad as the media makes it out, according to the ESRB parents independantly rate games the same as the ESRB rates them 83% of the time. I believe that's even higher than parents agreement for movie ratings!

The real problem is simply parents who don't care about their kids. I worked at a Wal-mart for two years, mostly in Electronics so I ran into this a lot. It's Wal-mart's policy not to sell M rated games to anyone under 17 (the register prompts you even). I went further than that though and always made sure to point out the rating to parents and explain what it meant if they didn't know. The vast majority of them said something along the lines of "that's OK, it's what he/she wants so I'll go ahead and get it." A very few would say "Oh, I didn't know that, thank you." then tell the kid they had to pick a different game. Even fewer would take the time to read the backs of the games and decide for themselves if they thought their kid could handle the game.

As far as making parents aware of the ESRB ratings, the ESRB and stores do as much as they can. Check out the games sections at your Wal-mart next time you're there and look at how many different bits of signage explain all the ratings. A lot of parents just don't care and never will. I suspect they're the same ones who act really shocked when their kid turns out to be a jerk. Sad

Wait now, you should try to contact the Goddess Hotline before fainting. Wink

Funny Asian things... lychee jellies. *chokes on one and sues* Rolling Eyes

I'll definitely give To Heart a rental if it gets over here.

How about a giant sign in every store that says "Warning: If you buy your kid an M-rated game, you may be a retard." To the point. Blunt, but to the point.

For all the ruckus over how much money I spend on Ah! My Goddess stuff, it's only my third-favorite anime franchise.

LOL

It's funny how those lychee jellies could be indistinguishable from the real ones (I'm referring to the insides)

Er, I'm pretty sure it's easy to tell. The texture is quite different.

For me, the only difference I could tell is that one is wrapped in plastic, and the one is, well, wrapped in "organic peeling".

Their similar coloring (both are clear) makes me confuse between the two. Confused

Ironically, the "organic" ones are easier to open.

I agree with you there. The adhesive for the cover of the lychee jellies makes my fingertips red hurt. (>_<)/

However, both leak out and cover your fingers with a tasty clear, juice. Mmmm! Too bad they discontinued the ones with actual fruit chunks. Those were good, but a choking hazard.

I agree on the juicy juice. Smile

They didn't pose any threat to me, though, as my big mouth rather engulfs the chunks, with my teeth doing the chopping and grinding jobs, before they get to my throat. Wink

This gives me the strange mental image of an Oriental version of Mick Jagger standing on a street corner yelling out anime blog entries with the aid of a megaphone....

Then again I'm pretty out of it right now so maybe I'm just hallucinating. Wink

I'm thinking of an Asian Don King in Chinatown...

I'm sure there are a few of us who are some. Laughing

I'm not afraid to admit it. It's a rare trait in our family, and I'm the only one (in our clan) to have it. My cousin also has the trait, though.

I suppose this can also imply that we eat a lot.
