Well, the cafeteria is a good ways up the mountain...

... though it's next door to where we meet for anime club.

Ahh, your school has one of those too? The one I went too had The Hill and anytime people referred to it you could freaking hear the capital letters being spoken. Unfortunately for me the CS department was based in the building right on top of The Hill so I got quite used to walking up lots of stairs... >_<

All I can think of is "location, location, location", sounds like someone did some research and some smart marketing. Smile Not that your wallet is too happy about it. Wink

Ours isn't a hill, it's a mountain!

The irony is that I moved the room from across campus to this side where the cafeteria is. D'oh!

Ahh, so it's your fault! Smile Or had you heard rumors of them offering the tea and moved it because of that? Wink

Our old room was a science classroom that encouraged everyone to sit far apart for some reason.

Now we're in a different building with stadium seating and now people bunch up together. Why, I have no clue.

It was a random accident that I discovered the tea shop. I was investigating the cafeteria's alleged roast beef and chicken (I never eat on campus a lot) when I saw the ads...

Gravity's different in the two locations maybe? Laughing

The cafeteria is known as "Da Bone" because of its meat. Razz

One building is environmental sciences, the other's chemical-something or the other. Maybe the chemical aromas make us more susceptible to anime-giddiness or something?

So I take it the meat's not deboned? Smile

Or maybe the center of the room has better ventilation and helps to avoid the chemical stench? Wink

Um, I guess...? Meat has bones... so it does?

Funny how the stereotype is that otaku are supposed to smell bad...

Maybe it's because they were perceived to never leave their room stock full of anime paraphernalia..

Well, that's what I think. It could be any other reason. Confused

Or perhaps they assume we're another breed of Trekkies.

*hides his phaser collection*

It seems to be a general stereotype about hardcore fans of all types, from Star Trek fans like TokenAsian mentioned (I can't keep track of which they prefer between Trekkies and Trekkers Razz) to comic book fans, to anime fans and beyond!

The really sad part is there are quite a few people who fit the stereotype in each group. I know I've heard quite a few people talk about smelly fanboys at anime cons, I've been to a few Star Trek cons and each had their fair share of smelly fanboys too. (And quite a few people who not only dressed up in costume but seemed to think they were really in the Star Trek universe. Those people scare me. Shocked )

I guess what happens is some people get so obsessed with their hobby they forgot to do inconvenient things like bathe, or they just don't bother because it'd take too much time away from their hobby. ^_^;;;

I understand some of the really big cons are so crowded (and hot) that smelly people are pretty much unavoidable. I'm sure Comiket is like that, since it's hotter than hell in Japan in summer and they sure pack the place wall to wall! (I've seen photos, no way I'm ever trying to go to Comiket. Sad )

Phaser collection ehh? That's not too bad, at least you don't speak Klingon fluently, or do you? Wink

Hey, I like guns... what can I say?

I speak Chinese fluently... sort of. I have this nasty Penn. Dutch accent, says my relatives. I think they're kidding, though.

Or the fact that a lot of cons are in the summer and you sweat a lot regardless...

They may be telling you the truth, it's hard to hear your own accent. Smile

Well that certainly doesn't help any. Smile
