Well, my BitTorrent broke itself somehow, but I really wanted to watch He is My Master... So I thought to myself, "I can use IRC..." Ran over to the tutorial and...

Aha. That was relatively painless... I'm downloading episode 5 of HiMM with IRC right now. Very Happy Thanks for that link!

doing a quick google search, you just basically create your own IRC channel when you join a channel not yet created. The "problem" is keeping the channel alive so you don't lose OP status or lose the channel.

Remember, google is your friend Wink

Pick a network that has services (chanserv, nickserv, etc). The manga scanslation group I'm in uses IRCHighway and that network has services. You have to register a nick first but then you can register a channel and not have to worry about channel takeover attempts (unless you give out your password to the channel). Smile

We've actually got an AnimeBlogger.net channel ready to go on IRCHighway, I just haven't told anyone about it yet. Smile

Anyway, someone else ended up setting up the channel.

Okay, I've created my own fserv, but apparently people can't access it. All they get is that little red arrow thingie and no window popping up. I even turned my firewall off.

And it's a Voice/op only fserv, if that matters at all.

You'll need to tell us which IRC Network you were trying to register with. It might be something specific to that network, or it could have been a temporay glitch. It could also be they have modified the register command to want things in a different order than the standard.

Actually there is. You can simply compile irssi ( http://www.irssi.org ) or download MacIrssi ( http://www.g1m0.se/macirssi/ , which is a port of irssi with a basic GUI). I like it better than mIRC myself, but I'm more of a UNIX guy anyway. Cheers
