Sadly no. I doubt I'll stay with this for the rest of my life, at this point I think I'd like to go back to college and get my PhD and try to become a professor somewhere. I'm getting very sick of systems & network administration. Sad

That's probably at least a few years off though.

I just had a weird mental image of the two of us at the same university and blogging down the hall from each other's office.

Laughing That is weird, although it'd be fun to work with a fellow professor who was into anime. Wink

Course both of us have to get our PhDs first which might take a while... Shocked

That'll take a while... though it'll probably take longer for the Ah! My Goddess manga to catch up in the US.

I think we'll both be retired by then. Smile

I wonder about Naruto and One Piece, the US release is insanely far behind and they're still going as well. I think I might very well be dead before they catch up. Shocked

Well, we'll at least be old and poor by then.

Old meaning we'll be in assisted living homes by then.

Poor meaning that we'll still be buying anime at a ridiculous rate.

I don't know about that, I think I have about 5 years worth of anime to watch and manga to read that I've downloaded over the years and never gotten around to alone. Hell, I've still got the entire Kimagure Orange Road DVD Boxset sitting on the shelf unwatched! Embarassed

Oh, so retirement for otakus means that we sit around and finish all the anime that we never had a chance to get to when we were young?

*imagines meeting Maestro in a retirement home*

Maestro: "Token Asian, I finally finished watching all 4000 episodes of Naruto this week."

Token Asian: "That's great, this week I managed to... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..."

If not I'm burning (and have burned) an awful lot of CDs & DVDs for no reason. Shocked

Actually at the rate it's going Naruto will still be airing when we retire. Wink

Laughing I hope I can stay awake longer than that once I retire! Razz

We are so retiring together...

Better yet, we can start a retirement home for elderly otaku.

The sad thing is, I was only half-kidding about Naruto...

I've had an extroidinarily bad day so you'll have to forgive my cynicism when I say I doubt I'll ever get to retire. Sad

That would be an interesting venture. Smile

I know, I really wouldn't be surprised if it's still running long after I'm dead, it's so insanely popular. (For good reason, but still it's a bit insane. Very Happy )

I doubt it'd work, like otaku-themed catering... another bad idea.

At least Inuyasha ended...

I don't know about catering but all those cosplay cafes in Akihabara are doing quite well. Smile Maybe it'd work better in Japan than the US. Wink

I didn't know that, but I don't follow Inuyasha so that's not a big surprise. Somehow I figured it would end eventually, probably because I know all of the manga-ka's previous works have been long running but all of them eventually ended. Smile

Somehow, I see maid-themed cafes in the US either being mobbed or as the scene of riots.

I didn't realize that it ended until recently myself. Well, I believe the manga is still going on, but the series is still going.
