You know you've watched too much anime (or some other facet of Japanese pop culture) when..
Feel free to chime in with your own, just take note of the caveat at the bottom..
- ...you refer to C++ comments as `subtitles'
- ...you name projects at work after anime characters.
- ...you're surprised when someone from the Kansai area speaks English without a Southern accent.
- ...you question whether `bookcase' is a good name for a structure that just holds DVDs.
- ...you wear a cute bell around your neck.
- ...everyone comes to you when they want to know how to say something in Japanese
- ...your email at work is based on your Japanese nickname. As a result, you occasionally get email from people at the company's branch in Japan.
- ...you think rice makes a great breakfast dish.
- ...you begin to harbour a subconscious fear of Americans.
- ...it's starting to get hard to tell Westerners apart.
- ...you can't understand why everyone insists on driving to work, and not walking, cycling, or using public transportation.
- ...you have nearly half a dozen anime-related posters in your office at work..and zero work-related ones.
Caveat: Your submissions must have actually happened. Yes, all of the above are true stories. (That's why some of them are kinda lame.. :p)
I think there were more I was gonna add, but I've forgotten them at this point, so I'll leave them till later.. _________________ Fare thee well. |

The first three I all did at the University I used to work for.
- ...You setup an NIS domain and name the home directory structure using the names of flowers in Japanese (Sakura, Tanpopo, etc.)
- ...You give up trying to find an English name that'll satisfy every sub-group in the department and just name the server something in Japanese. (Denshi for those curious, it means Electron.)
- ...You name all the computers you can after anime characters, even getting DNS to match. (I had every character from a couple of series represented before I left.
)
- ...All your home computers names are based on anime characters.
- ...Your windows workgroup at home is named shoujo. (I use this at work too when I need one, it's different and non-offenseive even if you know what it means.)
- ...You own over 50 volumes of untranslated manga even though you can't read Japanese.
- ...You spend a two week vacation in Japan mostly shopping for anime goodies.
- ...You have spent over $200 on a single cel from an anime series.
- ...Your iPod has more Jpop & Anime music on it than music in English.

definitely have done these, though I'm no where close to having that much untranslated manga. ^_^;; _________________ moyism.com | natsuki.us | haruhiism.com |

- ...You buy merchandise for shows you've never seen
- ...You think anime based video games are actually pretty good
- ...You view every flat surface as a place to stand figures
- ...You have gashapon figures on your desk at work
- ...Over half your t-shirt stock are anime shirts (over half of which where DVD pack-ins).
- ...You have an entire 100+ episode anime series on R2
- ...You are recognised by staff at the local postal sorting office

| at rice as staple here, so not really that great for a dish.
but the everyone part happens, and almost always it's about how to say things in Japanese to their girlfriend. perhaps they think language you don't understand sounds romantic or something *sigh*

| zero songs from other language already. ^^; - ...You dreamed with subtitle (only once, and once in black and white and manga panelling).
- ...You starts thinking, "those peoples looks all the same" to real life person and not to 2D chara.
- ...You developed 2D-complex.
- ...Your monthly expense mostly goes to buying anime/manga other than the routine monthly payment (such as phone and internet bill, which in turn goes to downloading anime anyway).
- ...It became you primary source of inspiration in many things.

- ...you cancel a date so you can watch a newly purchased box set.
- ...you turn on the Closed Caption option whenever you're watching regular TV.
- ...you insist on naming your boyfriend's cat and dog as Kyo and Shigure, respectively.
- ...you find yourself engaging in a heated discussion on fansubs and scanlations with a random stranger you meet at the bookstore. >_<
- ...you consistently imagine live-action prime time TV series in animation.
- ...you actually own an anime blog.

[*] ...whenever you watch the History Channel, you wonder whether this or that historical event deserves the anime treatment.
[*] ...you draw fanart of the Yamato (the anime one) versus the SDF-1.
[*] ...you feel psychologically disturbed when a DVD doesn't have English subtitles and at least one Asian language track.
[*] ...the money in your pocket, wait, what money?
[*] ...your Asian relatives are on the brink of disowning you because of your love for the "Japanese devils' cartoons."
[*] ...the local bookstore knows you as the "manga guy."
[*] ...little girls with violin cases scare you.
[*] ...you look forward to the end of summer because that's when Otakon starts up. _________________ Secretary of the Anime Club of Lehigh University (ACLU?)

I somehow missed that when I read Ten's post. That's pretty bad, I like anime a lot but I think I'd prefer a date over watching anime. (Course I suppose it depends on who the date's with and if you like them much...) |

^ You gotta pity Ten's date there. Poor guy got overpicked by anime. I mean I know anime is good and all, but that good... _________________ moyism.com | natsuki.us | haruhiism.com |

Now if you were smart, your date would be a night of watching anime with a loved one! Ah yes, having your cake and eating it too. _________________ 1/3 of Sea Slugs! Anime Blog |

Well, we have to set priorities after all... ;p
Anyhow, I was extra nice to the dude after that, um, cancelled date. So we went out in another time. Although he'll never know that I chose anime over him. ^^;; _________________ YSP: Duh!
